160 Cockacoeske was known to have a son who was called Captain John West. Based on the name, and the gossip at the time that he was the "son of an English colonel," the assumption is he's either the son of John West (1590-1659) or his son John West (1632-1691). West, John Captain (I17728)

186 From the site The Kings Candlesticks: Col John ALSTON of Wethersfield, Essex & North Carolina, America is proposed to be the son of Solomon Alston and Mary Pasfield.

From Wikitree:
There is a question as to who Capt. John Alston was married to. In the past his wife was believed to be Mary Clark, it is now believed through the research of Edward L. Fenn and Forrest King that John's wife Mary was probably Mary Baker. Mary Clark has been shown to have died young.[10]
From Edward Liveing Fenn on thekingscandkesticks.com
"About 40 years ago, there began to be articles written about the accuracy of a John Alston of Chowan County, North Carolina marriage to Mary Clarke. I have recently written a document that shows this John Alston is the son of Solomon Alston and Mary Pasfield. John came to live with Uncle Nicholas Pasfield in Surry County, Virginia as a teenager sometime after the death of his mother.
